On the way back from Mycenae, just outside Nafplio we stopped at the small Mycenaean palace of Tiryns, built in the 13th or 14th C BC and noted by Homer for its impressive walls. They are made of enormous blocks of stone. There are some vaulted passages and stairs, but they aren't accessible due to earthquake damage.
