Driving between Dinard and
St-Malo the road crosses the estuary on the Barrage de la Rance.
Not a
normal dam – this is the world's first and still the largest tidal power
station.
It generates 240 megawatts and was completed way back in 1966, taking advantage
of tides that can be up to 13.5 metres high.
